Dear 2009. San Francisco, CA

Dear 2009,

You were quite the year.  It started in Miami, then back to my San Francisco, Vegas, LA, London, New York, Toronto, graduating from College, turning 23, living in Hayes Valley, soaking up the LA sunshine, making new friends, finding new interests, losing lovers, finding new ones and understanding that everything happens for a reason.

I'm very grateful for you 2009 and look forward to 2010.

Resolutions: read more, laugh more, love more.

Ugly X-Mas Sweaters Come Together. New Port Beach, CA

Considering how painful my hangover is today proves that last nights party was a great success.  After my new girlie friend and I picked up a cute boy party crew from Supra on Fairfax, we jetted down the 405 in the pouring rain and headed for New Port.

I've never been to an "ugly Christmas sweater party" but I'm always up for a themed event, especially when EVERYONE is decked out in red, green and gold polyester x-mas knits!

Great tunes blared from the iHome speakers, spiked orange cider was available for most of the evening and charming Christmas decor was thoughtfully placed through out the house.

Unfortunately, the cider made me sleepy so I decided to take an hour long power nap and woke up to some random party crasher chick sleeping next to me.  After she got the boot, the remaining ugly X-mas sweater wearers and I, dance partied to the song "Home" by Edward Sharpe & The Magnetic Zeros, about three or four times (who're playing tomorrow at The Mayan in LA).  Here are some photos from my very fun filled holiday party.

3rd Street Holiday Party. Los Angeles, CA

This evening 3rd Street, between La Cienega and Fairfax, had their annual holiday party.  I stopped by a couple of shops on Sweetzer & 3rd, munched on mini red velvet cupcakes and snapped photos with my Cannon G11 (very exciting).  My friends and I wondered into a quirky craft store called Hands-On 3rd.  They conduct craft workshops, have a small but unique collection of goodies for sale and rent out space to artists, all under one roof!
Here are some photos from my visit.

Possibility by: Lykke Li. new song for The New Moon soundtrack.

If you know me, you're probably aware of my deep obsession and love for Lykke Li.  She's not only an amazing performer and artist but her sense of style is epic.   I've seen her perform four times, know all her lyrics,  and think she's one of the best female Swedish singers out right now.  This is her song for 'The New Moon' soundtrack.  Her sexy somber voice makes my heart weak and triggers emotion that is usually hidden from myself and others.  Blah, I'm getting all emo..I can't wait for her new album!

Here are some photos I took at Coachella 2009

Muse Ical .. Los Angeles, CA

So some how, some way, The Pacific Muse has turned into a melting pot of music, traveling, shopping, lifestyle and of course, a fashion  blog.
I go through phases..fashion phase, travel phase, boy phase, creative phase, work phase, love phase, loner phase etc. etc.  I've always been a music junkie but right now it's my main outlet.
I'm currently listening to Edward Sharpe and The Magnetic Zeros,  the new Zero 7 album Yeah Ghost,  Miike Snow, Florence and The Machine, Fever Ray, Architecture in Helsinki and much more that I can't think of right now.
I create playlists on blip.fm, imeem.com, hypem.com and I find a lot of new artist on Pandora.com.  I'm always up for learning about other online music sources and just recently a friend sent me a link to themixtapeclub.org, which is a compilation of ten mixtapes, with ten songs created by ten people.
check it..

Nostalgic San Francisco Nights.. "Hellhole Ratrace" music video by Girls

This romantic slow motion take on San Francisco's hipster party scene takes me back to a very fun world I once called home.  I recognize a lot of faces in this music video including mine.  Director Aaron Brown shot this in one night, capturing the pure enjoyment of being young and having fun in San Francisco.

Designer Valerj Pobega.. Los Angeles, CA

Gen Art's Fresh Faces of LA Fashion show was put on last night at the Petersen Automotive Museum.  Out of the five designers that show cased their collection, Valerj Pobega stood out to me the most.  Her work is like wearable art and I admired how each piece had a vulnerable yet dramatic story to tell.  I got to chat it up with the designer after the show and she's incredibly sweet.

You can check out her collections at :  http://www.valerjpobega.com/
